Lab-on-chip devices for smartphone imaging Surface Plasmon Resonance (iSPR) detection

My name is Chi and I am working on Lab-on-chip devices for smartphone imaging Surface Plasmon Resonance (iSPR) detection at LIU, Sweden under supervision of Prof. Daniel Filippini and Dr. Anke Suska. I was originally born and raised in Zhanjiang, a city in south China. I obtained my B.Sc. degree in Information Engineering at the department of Photoelectric Engineering of Jinan University of China. During this time, I worked on some projects related to optical spectroscopy and fluorescence spectrum imaging. I realised that my education only showed a glimpse of iceberg in the research field and I really enjoyed doing more in-depth research. Then I did a master in Optics at Imperial College London. As for my master thesis, I worked on a project to investigate the characterisation of a cancer diagnosis tool analogous to the Haematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining. My position in the FoodSmartPhone project will focus on additive manufacturing using SLA and FDM 3D printing methods, microfluidic design, LOC architectures in the context of unibody-LOC design, optical design and 3D printing of optical components. Other than this, it will give me a chance to interact with people from relevant groups in this project and it is exciting and meaningful to become a part of it. Apart from academic area, I enjoy cyclin, anime and travelling with friends.
